ABOUT US

Our gymnasium is located in the centre of the small town Priekule 20 km south of Klaipeda, the only seaport of Lithuania. The history of our school reaches more than 70 years. Our school is named after the famous Lithuanian writer Ieva Simonaityte, who spent a part of her life in our town at the end of the 20th century. The school museum presents the facts of her life.

The overall capacity of the gymnasium is 576 pupils. It is a special kind of gymnasium because we have students aged 6-18. Currently our team of teachers involves 68 qualified employees.

The school aims to foster, in cooperation with parents, a caring school community in which it strives to develop each dimension of the pupil: the spiritual, moral, aesthetic, intellectual, physical and emotional. We take part in different local and national projects, contests, competitions. Our students are good at sports, music and dancing. Also they are involved in some innovative programmes in case to improve their communication skills and to gain their life skills too.

In 2010 our school team won the national Legal knowledge competition for pupils and visited the European Parliament, this year our 24 students‘ team won Euroscola Competition and visited Strasbourg the official seat of the European Parliament.

The project Shared Treasures is the second international project for our students and teachers and we hope to reach all our aims successfully.
